Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia Skills Required

Our AAHA accredited animal hospital is looking for a mature, professional Veterinary Technician. Must be a detail-oriented person who can make good decisions, respond quickly and calmly to crises, and always maintain high standards of patient care. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are a must. The ability to set a good example, promote a positive work environment and provide direction and motivation to co-workers are important aspects of the position.

We are a busy 4 doctor animal hospital located in Fort Collins with great team members, clients, and patients! We will utilize you to your fullest potential. Must be willing to work 10 -12 hour days (3 ½ days/per week) this includes some Saturdays.

Qualifications – Must have these skills to be considered:

Applicant must be proficient in administering general anesthesia, including induction, maintenance of, monitoring, and recovery of patients.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Give prescribed medications, assist in performing treatments, diagnostics, and monitoring
  • Administer IV fluids, cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed
  • Ability to safely induce a patient under anesthesia, maintain under anesthesia, monitor, and recovery of patients
  • Knowledge in preparing and examination of urine, blood, fecal and ear cytology.
  • Obtain and record patient case histories using veterinary practice management software (we use Avimark)
  • Collect, prepare, and/or submit requested tests and perform laboratory procedures
  • Prepare animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery to include cleaning and sterilizing all surgical instruments and equipment
  • Provide patient dental care, ultrasonic cleaning, polishing, dental x-rays, etc.
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures
  • Knowledge in obtaining digital radiographs
  • Stock and maintain medicines and supplies
  • Preparing invoices, discharging instructions, and client information packs
  • Client communication: update and provide follow up for certain hospital patients
  • Client education

  • $18-20/ hour

Working Conditions

  • Work requires lifting and carrying animals weighing maximum 40lbs.
  • Walk or stand for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position
  • May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces
  • May be exposed to bites, scratches, contagious diseases and animal wastes
  • Hazards associated with aggressive patients, infected animals, and controlled substances

Client Relations Specialist (Reception)

Raintree Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Client Relations Specialist at either of our 2 locations in Fort Collins or Timanth, CO.  Applicants must enjoy working with people and diverse clients and are caring, friendly, and efficient. Must remain professional and courteous while handling multiple tasks with many interruptions. Some Saturday shifts are required.

Hospital Hours:

Monday -Friday: 7:30am – 6pm

Saturday: 7:30am – Noon

DUTIES include (but not limited to): Answering multi-line phone system; heavy client & patient interaction; accurate recordkeeping & math skills; scheduling of appointments, procedures, & surgeries; cashiering including balancing payment records at end of shift; deposits; ability to quickly learn various medical terminology, aspects & protocol, as well as costs, of veterinary medical procedures, treatments, and surgeries; rooming patients; kenneling patients; using Avimark practice management software; retrieving phone messages; monitoring supplies; faxing & copying; maintaining cleanliness and appearance of client areas; and performing misc. duties as needed.
