Senior Pet Care

APPOINTMENT

The Silver Whiskers Program is a preventive wellness program for adult and senior patients. It provides a medical plan that incorporates diagnostic tests, aiding in the early detection and prevention of disease. We have made this special program available in a discounted package that makes these important tests more economical. Our goal is to provide you the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure that your pet has the longest and healthiest life possible. Since pets age 5-7 times faster than humans do, problems in your pet can progress very rapidly. Use the enclosed Life Stage Chart to identify the proper life stage of your pet based on his or her age and weight.

As your pets age, it is very important that you make us aware of any changes in attitude or activity at home. Such changes would include weight gain or loss, decreased activity level or soreness after exercise, or changes in urination, defecation, or water intake, to name a few. Please complete the following (click button for form) Pet Health Checklist prior to your appointment to provide us with a detailed history of your observations. We will use this history, our comprehensive physical exam, and other diagnostic tests to make recommendations for your pet’s health maintenance. Part of this may include new diet recommendations.

Print out the Senior Pet Checklist and bring it to the clinic when you come in with your pet for its annual physical checkup.

Feline Silver Whiskers

Now that your cat is considered a senior, we have developed a special program for seniors called Silver Whiskers. This important program is being offered to our senior patients at a discounted, cost-effective rate.

The Silver Whiskers Feline Program provides a thorough medical plan that can aid in the early detection and prevention of disease. Our goal is to provide you with the tools necessary to ensure that your cat has the longest and healthiest life possible. Because cats age 5-7 times faster than humans do, problems in your cat can progress very rapidly, and a physical exam alone cannot provide the doctor with all the information necessary for senior patients.

This special program includes the following:

  • Physical Examination
  • Complete Blood count (Antech lab)
  • Complete Blood Chemistry Analysis (Antech lab)
  • Thyroid test (Antech lab)
  • Urinalysis (Antech lab)
  • Fecal examination

The above program can help in the early detection of pancreas disease, liver disease, kidney disease, bone disease, heart disease, muscle disease, arthritis, dehydration, diabetes, anemia, thyroid disease, gastrointestinal disease, clotting disorder, intestinal parasites (many that can be transmitted to humans), urinary tract infection, dental disease, inflammation, cancer, and several other health problems and diseases.
